PURPOSE:  The primary function of this position is to perform the daily operations of the front desk and/or reservation functions.

LOCATION:  Unaccompanied Housing, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Mississippi.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:  Open to the Public. Vacancies may be filled by methods other than promotions when the best qualified person can be obtained from other sources.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Ensures security and privacy of guests is maintained at all times.  Receive requests and process check-in and check -outs within established guidelines.  Ensure the resident’s privacy and security measures are maintained at all times.  Utilizes the property management system to register residents and assign rooms upon check-in.  Collect service charges, damage, and other charges upon checkout. Prepare daily reports at the end of the shift.  Answer phone, transfer calls to appropriate individual and handle resident’s questions.  Keep the front desk area clean and neat in appearance. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR  ANY SHIFT - DAYS/EVENINGS/WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS Must possess a valid state Driver’s License. Preferred 6 months of work experience that demonstrates a knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, regulations and administration related to front desk and/or other reservation operations. Must be able to communicate well orally and in writing with management, staff and guests.  Must be skilled in the use of a personal computer and various software programs.  Must possess basic math and reading skills.  Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing English.  Ability to control, account for and handle large amounts of cash. Position requires successful completion of a National Agency Background check.

VETERAN’S PREFERENCE:  Qualifying veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 with their application for employment.

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: The time period of eligibility for spousal preference begins 30 days before the military member's reporting date at a new duty station outside of the current duty station's commuting area and applies without time restriction except that spouses seeking preference with less than six months’ time remaining in the area may be non-selected. Spousal Preference forms are located in the lobby at the MWR Admin. Bldg. 352.
