LOCATION:   The Grill; Morale Welfare and Recreation Department, Community Activities Division, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Mississippi.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Accurately takes guest orders by means of phone or in person. Delivers food orders in a timely manner to guests on the base. Performs assigned duties and provides necessary services to authorized patrons. Provides information concerning facilities and operation. Ensures adherence to regulations, safety and security procedures. Assists in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial, and/or general maintenance duties as needed. Performs numerous functions to include inventory control, equipment inspection, restocking, point of sale system operation, and cash handling. Operates a cash register, Point of Sale (POS) system, processes product or service transactions including equipment loan, rentals, resale, and program registration; receives payments and makes change. Provides customer service by greeting patrons in person and by answering the telephone; takes messages and handles customer requests or referrals to the appropriate staff member. Adheres to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation requirements. Provides support for event set up and break down. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE GRILL ARE 7:00 AM – 1:30 PM, M-F. MUST possess a valid driver's license.  A high school diploma or GED is preferred.  Must be skilled in keyboarding to include operation of point of sale systems as well as desktop computers. Must have the ability to perform basic computer operations. Must be able to read and comprehend in order to adhere to published rules, regulations, standard operating procedures, checklists, and other guides. Must be able to perform basic custodial tasks. Must be able to perform basic arithmetic calculations. Must be able to identify customer needs, deliver expected service, and/or resolve routine customer issues. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Work may require sitting, walking, long periods of standing, bending and lifting of moderately heavy items up to 40 lbs. without assistance and occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain the following certification within 90 days of hire:  Emergency First Responder or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; Food Handlers; and C.A.R.E. (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively). This position is subject to completion of a satisfactory background or National Agency Check (NAC) in accordance with CNIC policy.

VETERAN’S PREFERENCE:  Qualifying veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 with their application for employment.

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: The time period of eligibility for spousal preference begins 30 days before the military member's reporting date at a new duty station outside of the current duty station's commuting area and applies without time restriction except that spouses seeking preference with less than six months’ time remaining in the area may be non-selected. Spousal Preference forms are located in the lobby at the MWR Admin. Bldg. 352.
