PURPOSE:  TO RECRUIT TEAM PLAYERS, WHO ENJOY WORKING WITH PEOPLE AND WHO HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

LOCATION:  Fitness Division, Fitness Center, Bldg. 445; Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Mississippi.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*** MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 8 AM – 4:30 PM, MONDAY - FRIDAY ***

Performs one or more of the following duties:  Sweeps, mops, dusts, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers and buffers.  Vacuum cleans rugs, using heavy (industrial-type) vacuum cleaner.  Adjusts, cleans, and oils these machines, and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them.  Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment.  Keeps rest rooms in clean, orderly and sanitary condition to meet sanitation inspections.  Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls. Cleans mirrors, sinks, and water fountains. Dusts ledges and woodwork. Maintains a stock of cleaning materials and equipment and notifies supervisor when more are needed. Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels and soap.  Cleans showers, sauna, and steam room.  Reports to supervisor water leaks, clogged drains, and other conditions requiring maintenance.  Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess a valid state Driver’s License. Must be at least 18 years of age. Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions. Ability to safely work while moving lightweight objects. Ability to use powered equipment and perform minor maintenance on this equipment. Ability to learn Material Safety Data Sheets. Exerts moderately heavy physical effort in controlling heavy equipment, carrying and setting up ladders and scaffolds and working from ladders and scaffolds. Continual standing, bending, stooping, and reaching; frequently lifting and moving objects weight about 40 lbs, and occasionally objects weighing over 50 lbs. Work is typically performed indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Exposed to dirt and disagreeable odors. Exposed to minor injuries. This position is subject to completion of a satisfactory background or National Agency Check (NAC) in accordance with CNIC policy.

VETERAN’S PREFERENCE:  Qualifying veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 with their application for employment.

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: The time period of eligibility for spousal preference begins 30 days before the military member's reporting date at a new duty station outside of the current duty station's commuting area and applies without time restriction except that spouses seeking preference with less than six months’ time remaining in the area may be non-selected. Spousal Preference forms are located in the lobby at the MWR Admin. Bldg. 352.
