LOCATION: GULFPORT - Child Development Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All custodial services will be performed according to the established specifications. Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes, polishes floors and cleans carpets. Wipes mirrors, metal doorplates, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, and all metal fittings. Cleans showcases, entrance doors, activity spaces/classrooms, doorframes and switches, paper towel dispensers, and other surfaces as required. Cleans glass partitions, inside and outside windows, and uses stepladders and extension ladders to change light bulbs, replace blinds, and wash walls. Dust, waxes and polishes furniture. Empties and washes trashcans. Inspects grounds, including removing trash and debris. Maintain restrooms. Sweep sidewalks and parking lots. Operates powered cleaning equipment. Maintains cleaning supplies. Loads and unloads merchandise, equipment and supplies. Assembles equipment.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess basic abilities and knowledge (which generally require no previous work experience or training) to read signs and follow simple oral or written instructions. Must be able to work safely. Must be able to use common cleaning tools and vacuum cleaners. Must have the ability to learn to operate powered waxers or buffers. This position is subject to completion of a satisfactory background or National Agency Check (NAC) in accordance with CNI policy. Must be able to successfully pass a drug screening.
VETERAN’S PREFERENCE: Qualifying veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 with their application for employment.
SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: The time period of eligibility for spousal preference begins 30 days before the military member's reporting date at a new duty station outside of the current duty station's commuting area and applies without time restriction except that spouses seeking preference with less than six months’ time remaining in the area may be non-selected. Spousal Preference forms are located in the lobby at the MWR Admin. Bldg. 352. You MUST attach spouse’s orders. You MUST be referenced (family) on the orders.
