Youth Activities Center
The Youth Activities Center offers a variety of programs and events:
School-Age Care - programs are age-appropriate childcare services for youth kindergarten to 12 years old and enrolled in elementary school including before and after-school care. These educational and recreational programs include arts and crafts, group games, field trips, guest speakers, special projects, volunteer projects, and special events. Summer camp is also held throughout the summer for children ages 5-12. Children will enjoy a variety of activities and fields trips such as water parks, museums, and the Zoo.
Youth Recreation - The program is available Tuesday through Saturday for youth enrolled in kindergarten to 18 years old. The Youth Activities Center also is open for special events including dances and pool parties, field trips and lock-ins.
Lock-ins are held about once every three months; separate lock-ins are held for pre-teens and teens. Doors will lock at 6 p.m. Friday and open for youth to be self-released or picked up by parents at 7 a.m. Saturday.
The MWR Youth Program also sponsors and co-sponsors various special events throughout the year that provide the base community with entertaining events that enhance their family's quality of life. Events include holiday carnivals, a base-wide Easter egg hunt, a holiday tree-lighting ceremony, the Month of the Military Child Celebration and Seabee Day.
The Youth Sports Program covers a wide variety of sports and instructional classes for military and DoD youth three to 17 years old. The program features sports leagues such as flag football, basketball, roller hockey, t-ball, soccer and sand volleyball. Youth are divided by ages and play round-robin schedules on-base as well as in off-base invites and scrimmages.
The Youth Activities Center also runs 4H programs and is an affiliate member of the National Boys & Girls Club of America. Children enrolled in the School-Age Care and Recreation Program will be able to participate in five core program areas: character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, and fitness and recreation.
Registration is free, and a small fee is charged for field trips and snacks.
