PURPOSE:  To recruit Team Players, who enjoy working with people and who have a positive attitude.

 

LOCATION: UNACCOMPANIED HOUSING, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Mississippi.

 

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:  Open to public. NAF employees of CBC, Gulfport and other Navy and Marine Corps activities and through the voluntary application file.  Vacancies may be filled by methods other than promotions when the best qualified person can be obtained from other sources.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for inspecting all common areas and vacant rooms.  Checks for damage and ensures that living standards are maintained.  Inspects for cleanliness and damage when checking in/out permanent party personnel.    Acts as an escort when Public Works or contractors require access to guestrooms.  Performs various maintenance related actions associated with their assigned building. Initiates trouble calls and work requests for any maintenance problems. Performs minor maintenance actions (changing light bulbs, preventative maintenance on fire extinguishers, replace air filters, etc.).  Follows up on all corrective actions to ensure completion and satisfaction of the guest.  Responsible for control of the furniture, fixtures, and equipment in their assigned buildings.  Coordinates with front desk and housekeeping staff to ensure rooms are ready for occupancy.  Provides input for short and long range planning.  May fill in for Unaccompanied Housing Manager when he/she is not available. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Should have formal education or experience equivalent to three years experience in this or a related field.  Must possess basic math and reading skills.  Must possess the ability to supervise and to instruct.  Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests.  Must have knowledge of general office procedures including collection of data for reports and retrieval of paperwork from files.  Must have a working knowledge of office machines including computers.  Knowledge of Navy unaccompanied housing management procedures and general business principles and practices related to unaccompanied housing management. Must possess a valid state driver license, as travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties. This position is subject to a favorable national background check. 

  

VETERAN’S PREFERENCE:  Qualifying veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 with their application for employment.

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: The time period of eligibility for spousal preference begins 30 days before the military member's reporting date at a new duty station outside of the current duty station's commuting area and applies without time restriction except that spouses seeking preference with less than six months’ time remaining in the area may be non-selected.
