LOCATION:  Community Activities Division, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport, Mississippi.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Mix and serve a wide variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a full service bar, following standard recipes.  Receive and record payment at time of sale.  Maintain the bar in a presentable and sanitary condition.  Count change fund and cash receipts.  Complete Daily Activity Report.  Total cash receipts, complete applicable forms and deposits in night depository.  May provide technical guidance to a Bar Assistant.  At closing, makes sure the building is locked and secure by following all closing procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be 21 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have the skill and knowledge to mix and serve a wide variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages by combining ingredients such as liquors, soda, water, sugar, bitters and fruit garnishes. Also serves liqueur, beer and wine and possess the skill in mixing such beverages as an Alexander, Margarita, Zombi, or Singapore Sling. Must possess the ability to completely set up a bar and recognize shortages of supplies based on volume of business.  Must be able to proficiently and accurately handle a large volume of cash.  Must be able to qualify for a health card issued by the Department of the Navy and to successfully complete sanitation school.  Constant standing or walking for prolonged periods of time.  Frequently handles objects weighing up to 5 pounds and occasionally handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds.  Works indoors in an area with adequate light and heat but may be exposed to extreme noise and the possibility of cuts and bruises.  May be exposed to slippery surfaces.  This position is subject to completion of a satisfactory background or National Agency Check (NAC) in accordance with CNIC policy.

VETERAN’S PREFERENCE:  Qualifying veterans must submit a copy of their DD-214 with their application for employment.

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: The time period of eligibility for spousal preference begins 30 days before the military member's reporting date at a new duty station outside of the current duty station's commuting area and applies without time restriction except that spouses seeking preference with less than six months’ time remaining in the area may be non-selected.
